1000 Zimbabwe Students Win Prestigious Scholarships

Zimbabwe will give scholarships to 1,000 students this year through a program started by President Mnangagwa. The goal is to help students from low-income families. It is part of the country's plan to boost the economy and reach a higher income level by 2030.

An education fair was held in Harare to help high school students choose the right subjects for their future careers. More than 10 schools from India took part.

The head of the scholarship program, Raymore Machingura, said the program wants to support studies in medicine, engineering, science, technology, and math. He emphasized that this aligns with the president's focus on increasing production in Zimbabwe.

"A country that does not produce cannot move forward," Machingura said, echoing the president's message.

In other news, the Indian ambassador met with Zimbabwe's defense minister to discuss working together on security. They plan to cooperate on military training, sports, cultural events, and sharing technology.

The defense minister, Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri, said the meeting was an important step in the long history between the two countries. She noted that their relationship began many years ago during Zimbabwe's fight against colonial rule.

Muchinguri Kashiri said she will visit India next month to sign an agreement. The ambassador agreed that ties between India and Zimbabwe keep getting stronger.

The two countries want to support each other in many areas. The scholarship program and the defense partnership are examples of how they are working to build a better future together.
