12 Dead in Back-to-Back Crashes on Nairobi Highway

Another deadly day on the Nakuru-Nairobi highway left twelve people dead from two crashes within 24 hours. Seven died Friday morning when a 14-seater matatu drove off the road at Kamandura junction. The vehicle tumbled down a steep slope, killing five instantly. Two more passengers died later at the hospital. Four others remain in critical condition at Tigoni Hospital.

This tragic incident happened just one kilometer from Thursday's deadly crash. The first accident occurred Thursday night when a private car crashed after a tire burst. Three people perished immediately on site. Two additional victims passed away during treatment. Both wrecked vehicles have been moved to Tigoni Police Station.

The Friday morning crash involved a matatu from Kijabeline Sacco traveling from Nairobi to Kijabe town. Limuru police commander Mary Gachie confirmed the details of the accident, which happened around 8:00 a.m. Police started investigations into both deadly crashes, which have shocked local communities. Road safety concerns continue to mount as these accidents add to the growing number of highway tragedies.
