The Gambia Startup Chamber of Commerce completed a three-month training program for 123 youth participants in collaboration with the ROOTS Project under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Security. The organizations held a ceremony on Saturday at Moses Lodge in Jarra Soma, Lower River Region, where 119 graduates met the required Key Performance Indicators after completing the Round 2 Youth-Based Matching Grant Coaching and Mentoring Program.
GSCC CEO Baboucarr Kebbeh reported that 121 participants completed the full coaching program. ROOTS Project Director Mamour Alieu Jagne noted that the initiative supports young entrepreneurs who supply seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides to rural farmers. Deputy Permanent Secretary Fatou Jammeh-Touray urged graduates to innovate and collaborate, noting that each participant could reduce youth unemployment by hiring two workers. The program transforms Gambian entrepreneurs into sustainable business operators through formalization and mentorship.
