3 Maoists caught with bomb meant to kill more soldiers

Security forces arrested three suspected Maoists and recovered a live pressure device in Dantewada's Malewahi area on Monday. The joint team from Malewahi Police Station and Central Reserve Police Force acted on intelligence about suspicious activity near Satdhar bridge. Officers detained Santu Mandavi, 36, Maniram alias Manish, 24, and Sukhman Mandavi, 24, all from Kahchenar village, when they tried to flee the scene.

The suspects admitted to membership in the banned CPI(M) Maoist organization and involvement in a recent attack that wounded two Central Reserve Police Force personnel. They disclosed the location of a one-kilogram pressure device, which the team safely deactivated at the site. Authorities seized blast materials and a Naxalite identification card before transferring the suspects to court custody. The operation reflects Superintendent of Police Gaurav Rai's intensified campaign against insurgent networks in South Bastar.
