41 fuel stations affected by unrest, but supply remains stable

Authorities reported that 41 fuel stations sustained damage during recent disturbances in Tanzanian cities. The energy regulator confirmed that fuel quality and availability have not been affected, with operating stations selling at set prices.

Mahafuth Maulid of the petroleum association stated that 25 impacted outlets were in Dar es Salaam, primarily belonging to one company. He noted that all damaged sites have resumed operations after safety checks. Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Albert Chalamila emphasized the city's economic role and the government's dedication to maintaining security and pursuing legal action against instigators.

Chalamila added that seized fuel tankers are being returned to owners, and reconciliation efforts are underway under presidential directives.
