Namibian Defence Force wants medically approved candidates to arrive at Osona training base near Okahandja on Friday. Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs made the announcement Thursday through spokesperson Petrus Shilumbu. Candidates received phone calls from regional recruitment officers between last Tuesday and Thursday. Defense officials expect 77 people to show up for military training from six different regions across the country. Only candidates who got telephone notifications should report to the base.
The selected group contains one person from Khomas region and one from Ohangwena region. Omaheke region contributes eight candidates to the training program. Oshana and Oshikoto regions each send 21 people to the military base. Otjozondjupa region provides the largest group with 25 candidates heading to Osona. All candidates must pass medical examination reviews before starting their training programs.
Ministry officials warned that uninvited people should not come to the training facility. Shilumbu said defense staff will not help anyone who arrives without receiving proper notification. The military base will only process candidates who followed the correct application and notification procedures. Regional recruitment officers contacted approved candidates through telephone calls during the specified time period. Defense officials expect all notified candidates to arrive ready for medical checks and training preparation.
