Composer A R Rahman presented his white grand piano to nephew G V Prakash Kumar after the younger musician received his second National Award. Prakash Kumar won recognition for his work on the film Vaathi starring Dhanush and dedicated the honor to supporters who followed his career across 110 projects spanning two decades. President Droupadi Murmu presented the award at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
The music director previously earned his first National Award for background scoring in Soorarai Pottru featuring actor Suriya. Prakash Kumar explained that background music requires composition for films lasting two to three hours while songs typically run 30 minutes. He described film scoring as more demanding but noted both formats present distinct creative challenges for composers working in cinema.
