Accountant of Court

Scotland has a special court official called the Accountant of Court. This person oversees bankruptcy cases and manages financial affairs for others. The official also keeps track of court-appointed money managers. The Bankruptcy Scotland Act of 1993 gave this official additional responsibilities. These new duties help manage financial problems more effectively.

The Accountant of Court can step into cases as a trustee when needed. A trustee is an individual who manages another person's money and property. The official can serve as a temporary trustee or a long-term one. This is most common when individuals lack financial resources or assets. The official ensures that everything is handled fairly.
