Adams axes GBA, taps Nelson for the cleanup

Ghana's Sports and Recreation Ministry will swear in the Boxing Interim Management Committee Monday at 1 p.m. The ceremony follows authorities dissolving the Ghana Boxing Authority board Friday. Minister Kofi Adams met committee members, among them boxing legend Azumah Nelson, with National Sports Authority Director General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah facilitating discussions. The inauguration follows the March 29 death of Nigerian boxer Gabriel Oluwasegun Olanrewaju at Bukom Boxing Arena.

Authorities established an investigative body led by retired official Amarkai Amarteifio to examine the incident. The committee produced a 100-page report with safety recommendations. Adams stressed reform focuses on boxing's future rather than personalities. The interim committee must implement medical protocols and strengthen anti-doping measures before resuming activities by year end.
