Admin workers rage over crumbs

Multiple protests organized by the Podkrepa trade union brought Sofia to a standstill as thousands of state workers demanded substantial wage increases and improved working conditions. Agriculture and forestry employees gathered outside the Council of Ministers, healthcare workers rallied near the National Assembly, and staff from the Employment Agency and Social Assistance Agency demonstrated on Knyaz Alexander Dondukov Boulevard.

Administrative workers in agriculture revealed that chief specialists earn just 1,169 leva despite decades of service, with the figure rising only to approximately 1,500 leva. Kamelia Petkova from the Kyustendil Regional Directorate explained that a mere 5 percent raise is scheduled for next year, while workers are pushing for consecutive 20 percent increases to match compensation in other government departments. Similar demonstrations erupted in Burgas, where employees like Violeta Zheleva and Valentina Mihaleva highlighted the disconnect between their qualifications and monthly pay.

Medical specialists are demanding that 7,000 school and kindergarten health workers be included in the salary mechanism, guaranteeing 1,550 euros for their profession.
