Singer Adnan Sami expressed sorrow over the death of veteran actor Asrani, who passed away on Oct. 20 at age 84 from a chest infection. Sami shared a video from his song Lift Karade, featuring Asrani reprising his famous jailor character from the 1975 film Sholay, and praised the actor's commitment to recreating every detail of the original costume.
Asrani's family confirmed his death through social media, and his last rites took place at Santacruz Crematorium on Monday. The actor had posted Diwali greetings hours before his passing. Asrani appeared in more than 350 films across five decades after training at the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune, and performed in Hindi, Gujarati, and Rajasthani cinema.
