A big hotel company called African Sun wants to sell one of its hotels. They plan to sell the Great Zimbabwe Hotel for 4.2 million US dollars to a family group named Mewame Family Trust. They will use this money to make their other hotels look better.
African Sun has been doing well since Covid-19 ended. They think selling the Great Zimbabwe Hotel makes sense because it did not make much money for them. The Mewame family came to African Sun and asked if they could buy the hotel. Both sides agreed to the sale on January 28, 2025.
The deal includes the hotel building and a big piece of land around it. The Mewame family will pay 3.2 million dollars for the land and 1 million dollars for everything inside the hotel. They need to pay all the money before April 1, 2025. Some important people must also say it's okay to make this sale.
The Mewame family already owns other places where tourists stay. They want to buy more hotels and improve them. African Sun owns many other hotels across Zimbabwe. They have seven hotels they own completely and three more they rent from other people.

Most people who stayed at their hotels came from Zimbabwe, but more visitors from other countries started coming. Many people came to their hotels for big meetings and special events.
