Allan Ngumuya marks 40 years with new album

Gospel artist Allan Ngumuya will release his 15th studio album next year after four decades in music. The collection titled Mfumu ya Mafumu features collaborations with the late Soldier Lucius Banda and several contemporary gospel musicians.

Ngumuya has released albums consistently since 2014 despite rumors of retirement. He produced compilations between 2018 and 2019, then released additional projects in 2020 and 2022, while serving in parliament until 2019.

The musician recorded most tracks in South Africa with producer Papy Kazati Nsenga and completed four songs in Jamaica. He earned a master's degree in communication from Purdue University in 2009 after 16 years in the United States.

The album addresses spiritual and social challenges through 12 tracks spanning reggae, country, and house music styles. Ngumuya plans to return to Malawi for live performances after relocating to the United States as a permanent resident in 2022.
