India’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Smita Pant, met with Indian pharmaceutical companies in Uzbekistan on Wednesday to discuss topics such as joint ventures, investment opportunities, registration processes, and cooperation in traditional medicine. The Indian Embassy in Uzbekistan noted that Ambassador Pant highlighted the positive impact of the Indian pharmaceutical sector in the country. Earlier, on Oct. 6, Pant met Abdulla Azizov, chairman of Uzbekistan’s Pharmaceutical Industry Agency, to further explore areas of mutual interest in pharmaceuticals and traditional medicine.
India and Uzbekistan have continued to strengthen their partnership, recently holding the ninth Joint Working Group meeting on Counter Terrorism in Tashkent to discuss collaboration in information sharing and best practices. India was among the first nations to recognize Uzbekistan’s independence, establishing diplomatic relations in 1992 and declaring a Strategic Partnership in 2011.
