AMD MI350 AI GPU Leaves Nvidia in the Dust

AMD launches its Instinct MI350 series to compete against NVIDIA Blackwell chips. The company focuses on building software that rivals CUDA technology. AMD releases new AI hardware once each year compared to NVIDIA's faster schedule. CTO Mark Papermaster announced the MI350 lineup at ISC25 conference. The new accelerators offer 35 times better performance for AI tasks.

The MI350 uses advanced 3nm manufacturing and carries 288 GB of HBM3E memory. AMD built the chip with CDNA 4 architecture for better speed. The accelerator sits between NVIDIA Blackwell and Blackwell Ultra products. ROCm software improvements help partners adopt AMD technology. The MI355X model delivers 30 times higher efficiency than previous versions.

AMD achieved these gains through smarter chip design and packaging methods. The company expects efficiency numbers to keep rising with future releases. Industry watchers want to see how customers respond to the new accelerators. AMD has created excitement about these chips for months. The launch shows where AMD heads with AI hardware development.
