AMD Radeon AI PRO R9700 debuts July 23 with 32 GB GDDR6 for AI pros

AMD will launch the Radeon AI PRO R9700 graphics card on July 23, 2025. Workstation builders Boxx and Velocity Micro will offer complete systems first. Hardware partners ASRock and PowerColor plan to release standalone cards during the third quarter. The company prices the R9700 at approximately $1,250, positioning it between the $599 RX 9070 XT and expensive NVIDIA workstation alternatives. This card targets AI professionals working with natural language processing and generative design applications.

The R9700 features AMD's Navi 48 GPU with RDNA 4 architecture and 32 GB of GDDR6 memory. PCIe 5.0 connectivity supports rapid data transfer speeds. AMD optimizes the card for lower-precision mathematical operations, such as FP8, FP16, and INT8. The manufacturer claims performance gains of nearly five times faster than NVIDIA's desktop RTX 5080 when running large transformer models. A dual-slot blower cooler maintains proper airflow in multi-GPU configurations.
