American Pastor Kidnapped During Church Service in South Africa

Armed men kidnapped American pastor Josh Sullivan during his church service in South Africa! The attackers wore masks when they burst into Fellowship Baptist Church, located in Motherwell township. They grabbed two phones before escaping in the pastor's silver Toyota Fortuner. Police later discovered the abandoned vehicle but couldn't find the 45-year-old American anywhere. The case has been transferred to South Africa's elite Hawks police unit for investigation.

Jeremy Hall witnessed everything alongside his wife plus children during the terrifying incident. He noticed the kidnappers knew Sullivan's name already. The pastor's mother shared her heartbreak on Facebook, mentioning that both their congressman plus the American embassy started working to locate him. No kidnappers have asked for ransom money, according to news reports. Sullivan describes himself as "a church planting missionary" who moved to South Africa with his family in 2018.

South Africa experienced a shocking 264% rise in kidnappings over the past ten years, according to official police statistics. Another kidnapping happened just days earlier when criminals took a Chinese national from the same area. The US State Department confirmed they knew about Sullivan's kidnapping. They emphasized that nothing mattered more than keeping American citizens safe abroad. Police authorities continued following every possible lead, hoping to rescue Sullivan soon.
