Amit Malviya accuses Congress of hypocrisy over the Prime Minister's participation in all-party meetings

BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya accused Congress leaders of dishonesty regarding the Prime Minister's participation in parliamentary meetings. The politician highlighted differences between the UPA and NDA approaches to all-party consultations through social media statements. Malviya pointed out that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi never attended Floor Leaders' meetings during their decade in power. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath chaired the first such gathering on August 13, 2013, with subsequent sessions also led by ministers rather than senior leadership.

Modi began personal attendance at these consultations from July 2014 and maintained regular participation through 2021. Ministers resumed hosting duties after this period, returning to the previous practices established under the Congress rule. Malviya challenged Congress to explain the absence of their top leaders from these democratic processes. The comments emerged ahead of an anticipated turbulent parliamentary session where opposition parties plan to raise various contentious issues. Congress MP Jairam Ramesh recently dismissed these meetings as mere procedural formalities.
