Union Home Minister Amit Shah ordered the creation of a specialized federal team to address rising natural disasters across Himachal Pradesh. Officials briefed Shah about worsening cloudbursts, flash floods, landslides and heavy rainfall that damage lives, property and the environment. The team brings together specialists from the National Disaster Management Authority, Central Building Research Institute Roorkee, Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology Pune, geological experts and Indian Institute of Technology Indore. Federal authorities deployed an Inter-Ministerial Central Team for damage assessment from July 18 through 21 without waiting for state requests. Thirteen National Disaster Response Force units conduct rescue operations throughout the affected regions.
