ANCWL Mpumalanga faces legal challenge over conference results

Disgruntled members of the Mpumalanga ANC Women's League have initiated legal proceedings in the Mbombela High Court seeking the nullification of leadership elections conducted at Pienaarsdam Leisure Resort in Middelburg. Attorney Phindile Mculu confirmed that applicants cited procedural irregularities, including manipulated branch general meetings, arbitrary audit rejections, restricted accreditation access, and questionable delegate registration processes. The disputed provincial conference produced an unopposed slate featuring Muhle Mashele as chairperson alongside other executive positions.

Multiple regions lodged formal objections before the elective gathering, while Provincial Task Team convener Leah Mabuza and additional senior figures boycotted proceedings. Provincial secretary Muzi Chirwa had requested national intervention from leadership headquarters before voting. Critics contend the controversy connects to succession positioning ahead of the December provincial conference contests between deputy chairperson Speedy Mashilo and incumbent premier Mandla Ndlovu.
