Anno 117 - Pax Romana breaks franchise launch records

Ubisoft's city-building strategy title Anno 117: Pax Romana has achieved the strongest franchise debut across seven installments spanning 25 years. The release from Ubisoft Mainz secured second position on Steam's sales rankings, surpassing Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 despite launching ahead of the shooter by only one day.

The Roman-era strategy game earned an 85 Metacritic average with 94 percent of OpenCritic reviewers recommending it to audiences. Player engagement metrics show an average session duration of 3.7 hours, while the game trails only ARC Raiders in weekly Steam revenue performance.

Executive Producer Stéphane Jankowski acknowledged the player response and confirmed plans for Year 1 content, expanding gameplay into Egypt. Black Ops 7 reached approximately 100,000 concurrent Steam users compared to 315,000 for its predecessor.
