Anno 117 Pax Romana Gameplay Wrecks Everything

Ubisoft Mainz showed off gameplay for Anno 117 Pax Romana almost a year after first announcing it. Players build Roman cities with roads, homes, markets, and taverns, but must watch for fires from places like bakeries. The game asks players to balance stinky pig farms against nice lavender fields when planning neighborhoods. Citizens need goods but also want entertainment through theaters, bathhouses, and libraries as communities grow larger.

Trade becomes vital since every island lacks certain resources. Pirates might attack supply ships unless players protect them with armed escorts. Different gods offer various benefits, such as Neptune making ships faster or Mars helping soldiers fight better. During expansion, players choose between making friends or conquering enemies.

The game travels further back than any previous Anno title, showing Rome during its peaceful golden age. Gamers can decide whether to support Celtic traditions in places like Albion or push Roman ways instead. Developers promise the game keeps the series' depth but makes starting easier for newcomers. The release comes six years after Anno 1800 and will work on computers, PlayStation 5, and Xbox systems.
