Anwar Ibrahim Calls for PDRM Overhaul, Rips Into Gaza Crisis

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim met with the country's top cop on Monday and delivered some straight talk about keeping the force clean. The newly appointed Inspector-General of Police Mohd Khalid Ismail paid a courtesy visit to Putrajaya where Anwar stressed the importance of professional standards. The PM also made sure to mention that police officers and veterans deserve proper care and support. Anwar wants the Royal Malaysian Police to stay strong as one of the nation's most important institutions. He believes the force needs serious commitment to keep Malaysia safe and peaceful.

The two leaders talked about bringing the police force into the modern age with cutting-edge technology and artificial intelligence systems. Anwar sees these upgrades as essential for tackling today's security threats effectively. Mohd Khalid has landed a two-year appointment that starts June 23, 2025 and wraps up June 22, 2027. The PM wished the new police chief well and hopes he can boost the force's reputation to new heights. Modern policing requires modern solutions according to Anwar's vision for law enforcement.

On a different note, Anwar jumped on a video call with British politician Jeremy Corbyn to discuss the ongoing Gaza situation. The two politicians talked about working together with other nations to pressure Israel over the humanitarian crisis. Both leaders want to see international law respected and human rights protected. The Gaza conflict has been dragging on for 21 months with devastating consequences. Nearly 189,000 Palestinians have been killed or wounded with thousands more still missing.
