Apple aims to drop Personalized Siri with iOS 19 this fall

Apple might release its delayed Personalized Siri feature earlier than expected. The New York Times reports the company aims to launch it this fall instead of next year, as previously announced. Apple has sped up development after facing criticism for pushing back several AI features.

The revamped Siri will appear alongside iOS 19, which promises a major visual redesign inspired by visionOS. Apple employees feel confident the feature will be ready for the fall release. This updated assistant will handle tasks like editing photos and sending them to friends upon request.

Siri has fallen behind competitors like Google Assistant and ChatGPT in the artificial intelligence race. Apple teamed up with OpenAI to temporarily add ChatGPT abilities to Siri. The company continues to work on its LLM Siri, which will directly compete against Gemini and other advanced AI assistants.

The upcoming Personalized Siri includes features such as Personal Context, Onscreen Awareness, and Deeper App Integration. These additions will make iOS 19 an even more significant update than first planned. Apple wants to regain lost ground after disappointing users with delayed AI rollouts.
