Apple Busts Ex-Engineer for Stealing Vision Pro Secrets

Apple just slapped a lawsuit against former worker Di Liu for stealing Vision Pro secrets. The tech giant claims Liu grabbed confidential files from his company laptop before jumping ship to rival Snap. Liu worked at Apple for seven years as a senior product design engineer with access to top-secret Vision Pro technology. The company says he copied massive amounts of private information to his personal cloud storage during his final days. Apple discovered the theft through forensic analysis of Liu's work computer.

Liu never told Apple he accepted a job at Snap, which competes directly with Apple's headset business. He lied about leaving for personal family reasons to avoid standard security protocols when employees quit. The lawsuit states Liu deliberately hid his new job to keep access to internal systems longer. He deleted files from his laptop to cover up the data transfer. Apple believes Liu stole design details, hardware testing information and unreleased features.

The iPhone maker filed the case on June 24, 2025 at Santa Clara County court seeking immediate return of stolen trade secrets. Apple also wants unspecified financial damages from Liu for the breach. The company demands Liu hand over his personal devices and cloud accounts for investigation. Snap quickly denied any connection to Liu's alleged misconduct. Apple has previously sued other former employees for stealing confidential company information.
