Archbishop says vote like Jesus is watching, peace is non-negotiable

An archbishop just dropped the universal election season advice: be cool. Orthodox Archbishop Jeronymos Muzeeyi used his Christmas sermon at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Namungoona to tell Ugandans to keep things peaceful and unified with a vote coming up. The service, led by the Archbishop with help from a priest named Niclas Bayego Ssekamwa, had all the traditional stuff like candle processions and hymns.

His big point was that the holiday season is for renewal, and that spirit should apply to politics too. A scripture-backed message, read aloud by Father Bayego, pushed citizens to pick leaders responsibly and to show mutual respect. Another church leader, Elias Nsubuga, backed up the call for a calm election season, repeating a similar plea from the Buganda king. The whole event was wrapped with prayers for the country's stability, basically asking for a drama-free new year before everyone hits the polls.
