Ariana Grande cancels Brazil trip due to flight chaos

Ariana Grande was unable to attend the Sao Paulo premiere of Wicked For Good after a mechanical problem prevented her aircraft from departing. The actress and singer, who portrays Glinda in the Jon M. Chu musical fantasy film, shared her disappointment with fans through an Instagram message posted on Tuesday morning.

Grande explained that her team had to exit the plane just hours before the scheduled departure because maintenance crews needed to address a safety concern. The aircraft would not be cleared for takeoff until 1 a.m. the following day, making it impossible to reach Brazil in time for the event. Despite extensive efforts by her representatives and Universal Pictures to find alternative transportation options, no commercial or private flights could get her there on schedule. Even private aviation required permits that would take considerable time to obtain.

The premiere represented what would have been Grande's first personal appearance in Brazil in multiple years. She asked fans to celebrate her fellow cast members, particularly Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba, while expressing sincere regret about missing the occasion. In a subsequent post, Grande requested that followers not blame her or wish harm upon anyone, noting she had completed work on another project on October 31 and continued working through November 2 before this scheduled departure.
