Army chief promises better welfare, housing for troops

Nigerian troops in Niger State just scored a major win for their families as Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu visited Latini Barracks to pledge better housing. The Army Chief told 18 Brigade soldiers that fixing their living situations directly fuels the fight against bandits. He insisted that happy homes create sharper warriors ready to restore peace.

This tour involved more than just speeches since the general met retired leaders like Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar. Those meetings aimed to secure high-level backing for ongoing operations while he also inspected current setups to find weak spots needing extra resources.

Colonel Appolonia Anele released the official word confirming these welfare upgrades. She noted that plans exist to build fresh accommodation and launch skill centers where spouses can learn trades. The leadership believes empowering dependents removes distractions for personnel facing danger daily.

Shaibu also stopped at the palace of Etsu Nupe Yahaya Abubakar to discuss security strategies. He wants traditional rulers involved in identifying threats early. The goal involves boosting morale through tangible benefits so the army can focus entirely on neutralizing enemies.
