Military vehicles made their way across Palace Square today. The city held a practice run for the Victory Parade during daylight hours. Soldiers from the St. Petersburg garrison marched near the Winter Palace. Cars backed up as tanks rumbled through downtown streets. Drivers found themselves stuck because of roadblocks.
People had to find other routes around Nevsky Prospekt. Millionnaya Street became closed off with the Pevchesky Bridge. One lane shut down on Palace Embankment as well. Public buses stopped moving along with private cars on the main roads. Traffic stopped completely from Sadovaya to the Admiralteyskaya area. Malaya Morskaya Street jammed up with Gorokhovaya Street.
