Arsenal crush West Ham as Rice scores against former club

Declan Rice scored against West Ham as Arsenal climbed to first place in the Premier League with a 2-0 victory on Saturday, and Manchester United defeated Sunderland by the same margin to ease pressure on manager Ruben Amorim. Rice blasted a rebound into the net after goalkeeper Alphonse Areola blocked Eberechi Eze's shot, and Bukayo Saka converted a penalty after Jurrien Timber drew a foul from El Hadji Malick Diouf. Arsenal moved one point ahead of Liverpool before the Reds visit Chelsea, but captain Martin Odegaard left the match with an injury for the third time this season.

Mason Mount scored eight minutes into the match at Old Trafford, and Benjamin Sesko added a second goal from a long throw for his first home strike since joining from RB Leipzig for 74 million pounds. Tottenham beat Leeds 2-1 at Elland Road as Mohammed Kudus netted the winner after Noah Okafor equalized Mathys Tel's opener for the visitors. Thomas Frank's squad rose to third place after ending Leeds' yearlong unbeaten streak in league play.
