The musician Asake has responded to a fatal crowd surge at his recent show in Kenya. A twenty-year-old woman named Karen Lojore died in a stampede outside the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi. The singer posted on Instagram that he was devastated by the tragic event during his December performance. He sent his condolences to her family and friends.
Asake stated that music is supposed to spread love, making the loss especially heartbreaking. He promised to help figure out the cause and said anyone responsible needs to answer for it. The concert was a stop on his Africa tour, shared with another performer, Gabzy. Local police confirmed a brief stampede happened at an entrance gate to the large stadium.
