The company will release beta updates next week for 2023 Strix SCAR 15 and Zephyrus M16 models. GitHub researcher Zephkek identified the source as flawed laptop firmware rather than hardware defects. Windows ACPI.sys received inefficient code that created latency spikes every 30-60 seconds.
The problematic firmware executed poorly designed routines that repeatedly attempted to power graphics cards on and off inappropriately. High-priority interrupts generated regular stutters, freezes and audio crackling during gaming sessions. ASUS stated the beta testing will not void manufacturer warranties for affected users.
