ASUS X870 MAX Gaming wins over gamers on value

ASUS just launched a new motherboard series called MAX Gaming to bridge the gap between its TUF and Prime products. The company hopes this will help it compete with more affordable options from MSI, Gigabyte, and ASRock. Their first release, the X870 MAX Gaming WiFi7, comes in black or white color schemes.

The board works with AMD Ryzen 9000 processors and offers modern features despite its mid-range position. It includes four PCI-E x16 slots, with the main one supporting Gen 5.0 speeds. The primary M.2 storage slot also runs at Gen 5.0 speeds, with three total M.2 slots available alongside four SATA ports.

Users will find WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 for wireless connectivity. The board provides several USB ports but lacks an optical audio connection. Memory support details remain unconfirmed, though the board features four DIMM slots for RAM.

ASUS hasn't announced the exact pricing or release dates for these new motherboards. Based on their feature set, market watchers expect them to sell between $200 and $250. The MAX series aims to give builders better value than Prime boards without paying for premium TUF features.
