Auxillia Mnangagwa crowns rangers as Chinhoyi heroes

First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa honored wildlife rangers as exceptional protectors of national heritage during delayed World Ranger Day ceremonies at Chinhoyi Caves on Monday. The environmental patron praised their daily sacrifices against armed poachers and dangerous animals while urging the adoption of artificial intelligence for enhanced wildlife monitoring. She emphasized community involvement through programs like CAMPFIRE that strengthen both conservation efforts and local livelihoods.

UAE Ambassador Jassim Al Qasimi donated over 200 bicycles to rangers, along with school furniture and boreholes, during the event themed "Rangers Powering Transformative Conservation." Environment Minister Evelyn Ndlovu confirmed the government's commitment to enhancing ranger training and integrating technology. ZimParks Director General Edson Gandiwa acknowledged investments in ranger welfare and mental health support while recognizing the importance of junior ranger programs for developing future conservation stewards.
