Zimbabwe's First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa directed a citywide sanitation campaign across Harare yesterday. The Environmental Management Agency and Harare City Council supported the initiative that targeted downtown areas and the Mbare flyover. Business owners and residents joined the effort to remove litter from Julius Nyerere, Cameroon and Leopold Takawira streets. The campaign also addressed Market Square bus terminus and Gulf Complex.
Dr Mnangagwa personally swept pavements and cleaned alongside community members during the zero-waste movement activities. She warned street vendors against selling illegal substances that harm young people. The First Lady emphasized that environmental care begins at individual doorsteps and connects to community health. Participants pledged to continue waste management practices in their neighborhoods after learning proper disposal methods.
