Ayra Starr Reflects on Acting Debut in Children of Blood and Bone

Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer Ayra Starr completed her first acting role in the American fantasy film Children of Blood and Bone. The performer discussed her experience during a recent CBS interview. She discovered that film work demands much stricter schedules compared to music production. The actress learned to follow military timing and maintain higher work standards. Her respect for professional actors increased significantly after this experience.

Starr explained that music sets allow performers more freedom and star treatment. Film productions require actors to arrive punctually and focus on the entire project rather than individual needs. She praised the incredible stamina that actors demonstrate during long shooting days. The singer admitted feeling amazed by how much discipline the acting profession requires. She gained valuable knowledge from every cast member during production.

Acting has always attracted Starr despite her successful music career. She felt nervous about performing without singing for cameras. The role marked her first on-screen appearance as an actress rather than a musical performer. She described the experience as educational and transformative. Working with experienced actors taught her important lessons about the craft.

The movie adapts Tomi Adeyemi's popular novel of the same name. Gina Prince-Bythewood directs the star-filled production. The cast features Damson Idris, Tosin Cole, Idris Elba, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Cynthia Erivo, Viola Davis, and Thuso Mbedu. Paramount Pictures plans to release the film on January 15, 2027. Fans can expect to see Starr showcase her acting abilities alongside these established performers.
