Azharuddin calls to cancel India Pakistan Asia Cup clash

Former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin questions whether the upcoming Asia Cup match between India and Pakistan should proceed. The veteran player believes current tensions between the two nations make sporting competition inappropriate. Security concerns and recent cross-border incidents have created an unsuitable environment for cricket matches. Azharuddin argues that if sporting ties continue, they should apply to all sports rather than selective participation. He emphasizes that government and cricket board officials will determine the final outcome.

The September 14 encounter takes place at Dubai International Stadium as part of the Asia Cup tournament. Both teams compete in Group A alongside UAE and Oman from September 9 to 28. Political sensitivities require a neutral venue hosting throughout the UAE rather than either country. The nations have avoided bilateral cricket series since 2012 but continue meeting in international tournaments. Government and BCCI decisions will ultimately shape whether the highly anticipated match occurs despite ongoing diplomatic challenges.
