Bakala Back at CAPS as Squad Finds Winning Gear

Ian Bakala praises his CAPS United players for learning his coaching style quickly. The team struggled through their first 14 games of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season. CAPS United appeared near the bottom of the standings instead of competing for the title. Club leaders fired Lloyd Chitembwe and brought back former player Bakala as head coach. The new coach won his first match against Manica Diamonds two weeks ago.

Bakala played for CAPS United during their successful 2004 season when they won the league title. That team lost just one game and earned 79 points from 30 matches. The current coach wants his players to beat those achievements from his playing days. Bakala works with former teammates Witness Munkuli and Limited Chikafa who help train the squad. He believes the players have adopted his methods and can start winning more games.

CAPS United faces Chicken Inn at Rufaro Stadium this afternoon hoping for their second straight victory. Bakala expects his players to show strong mental toughness against tough opponents. The coach worked on fitness during the international break because players struggled to last full matches. He feels satisfied with their improved conditioning and expects better performances. CAPS United needs points to climb toward the middle of the league table.
