Baloch Voice for Justice blasts Pakistan over brutal abuses in Balochistan

A major human rights group slammed Pakistan on Monday for widespread abuses against the ethnic Baloch people. Baloch Voice for Justice said Pakistani troops routinely make people vanish and kill civilians in fake shootouts across Balochistan province. The group backed recent warnings from UN human rights chief Volker Turk about attacks on basic freedoms. Students, lawyers, activists, and ordinary workers all face constant danger from security forces who target them based on their ethnicity. Women increasingly disappear without a trace, like disabled student Mahjabeen, who vanished over two months ago.

Pakistani authorities have cut internet access for months in many areas and banned peaceful protests. Border trade that families depend on for survival has stopped completely, pushing thousands into poverty. Schools and hospitals remain in terrible condition after years of government neglect. The rights group called the situation structural genocide and urged world leaders to take action against those responsible for these crimes.
