Barcelona to return to Camp Nou on Nov 22

Barcelona will resume playing at their overhauled Camp Nou facility when they face Athletic Bilbao in La Liga action, marking their first match at the venue since renovations began following the 2022-23 campaign. The Catalan club has spent the interim period competing primarily at the Olympic Stadium on Montjuic hill after construction setbacks pushed the reopening back a full year from initial projections.

The stadium will accommodate 45,401 supporters initially while work continues toward an eventual 105,000-seat configuration once upper sections reach completion. The $1.75 billion project encountered multiple delays, forcing Barcelona to stage early-season contests at their 6,000-capacity Johan Cruyff training complex because officials could not obtain required safety clearances. The venue originally opened in 1957 with room for 99,000 spectators, and the club expects to add a covering structure by summer 2027.
