Barcelona's Lamine Yamal skips Oviedo, eyes Montjuïc return

Lamine Yamal continues his extended absence from Barcelona fixtures and will not feature against Oviedo tomorrow. The young forward has missed four consecutive matches due to a persistent thigh problem sustained during Spain international duty. Barcelona officials report that Yamal participated in matches against Bulgaria and Turkey before the injury worsened. The teenager has not resumed full team training sessions at the club's facilities. President Joan Laporta expressed cautious optimism about Yamal's potential availability for Sunday's encounter with Real Sociedad at Olympic Stadium Luis Companis.

Barcelona has maintained excellent form during Yamal's absence with victories against Valencia, Newcastle, and Getafe. The team scored eleven goals across these three matches while conceding just one. Yamal targets a brief appearance against Real Sociedad to build match fitness ahead of the Champions League fixture. Barcelona faces Paris Saint-Germain on October 1 in a significant European competition match. Medical staff will assess Yamal's condition before making final decisions about his return timeline.
