Barrow Backs Big Break for Madrassah Students

President Adama Barrow wants every Gambian child to have equal chances for college and higher learning. He spoke Tuesday at Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara Conference Centre about education opportunities. The president launched a new plan that helps religious schools connect with universities. Ministry of Higher Education works with World Bank money to make the program successful. Students from Islamic schools need better paths to advanced studies.

The strategy focuses on technical training and science subjects for all students. Imam Ousman Jah from AMAANA says the plan helps both religious and regular school students learn job skills. He asked government leaders to support Madrassah teachers with more resources. Barrow agrees that his administration must provide fair education for everyone across the country. Religious school graduates face many barriers when trying to enter colleges.

Language problems and limited access to specialized training hurt many students from Islamic schools. Poor English skills and weak connections to higher education block their progress toward success. Many bright young people from disadvantaged communities cannot advance their studies further. The president wants to remove these unfair obstacles that stop talented youth from reaching their potential. Community and religious leaders must work together to build trust and support for school integration efforts.
