Baul Fakir shorn, Tarakanda reels as cops hunt crew

Authorities received a formal complaint against seven named suspects following the forced haircut of 70-year-old Halim Uddin Fakir from Tarakanda, Mymensingh. His son, Md Shahid Mia Akand, filed charges at Tarakanda Police Station on Saturday afternoon, targeting 12 people in total. Police identified Sohrab Hossain Ashrafi as the leader of Human Service Bangladesh, the group behind the attack.

The viral footage captured three men cutting the elderly man's dreadlocks and beard against his will at Kashiganj Bazaar. Halim Fakir had maintained his matted hair for 37 years as a spiritual devotion to religious figures. Additional Superintendent Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed investigators have opened the case and begun taking action.

The assault occurred days before Eid-ul-Azha and left the victim physically and mentally traumatized, according to family members.
