Beitbridge RDC partners to build more schools, ease access for students

Beitbridge RDC boss Kiliboni Mbedzi said the council is teaming up with development groups to throw up more schools across the district since kids are walking way longer than the 5km target distance right now. World Vision Zimbabwe just helped rebuild stuff at Fula and Tshaswingo primary schools by adding climate-resistant classroom blocks, and they also set up fish ponds plus solar water systems at one of the sites.

The district serves around 150,000 people with only 66 primary schools and 14 secondary schools, which clearly is not enough coverage. Tshaswingo got six new classrooms after termites wrecked 10 of their old ones, while Fula picked up two classrooms and some offices for their 260 students. Council chairperson Oscar Chiromo basically told other aid organizations to get involved since dropout rates are connected to how far students have to travel for an education.
