Berkovich vows Algeria will fight for Africa Cup glory

Algeria’s coach, Vladimir Berkovich, stated that the national team’s goals extend beyond World Cup qualification, as they aim for a strong showing in the upcoming Africa Cup in Morocco. He described the final qualifier against Uganda on Tuesday as a significant step in their preparations.

Berkovich praised captain Riyad Mahrez for his leadership and performance, noting Mahrez’s effective response to criticism on the field. The coach also welcomed congratulations from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, highlighting the message as a motivating factor for the team’s continued progress.

Berkovich explained his decision to rest certain players carrying yellow cards, focusing on readiness for future matches and emphasizing the importance of the Uganda game despite qualification. He stressed the need to maintain the same determination and discipline in all competitions, viewing qualification as the start of a new chapter for Algerian football.
