Beyond the Ice Palace 2 Arrives on PC and Consoles Today

Beyond the Ice Palace 2 just came out everywhere you play games - PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC through Steam, GoG, and Epic Games Store. Storybird Studio developed this sequel with PQube and PixelHeart publishing it together. Players can expect fast action, tough platforming challenges, and many hidden things to find throughout beautiful gothic pixel-art worlds.

The original Beyond the Ice Palace hit Amiga, Commodore 64, and ZX Spectrum in 1988. Nobody expected fans to wait 37 years between the first game and this sequel—breaking records for the longest gap between a game and its follow-up. The developers kept the classic pixel-art style people loved but added modern gameplay that works for both old fans and first-time players.

You play as the Cursed King, who breaks free from captivity and turns his chains into weapons. The dark fantasy setting holds many secrets as you hunt massive demons, find upgrades, and seek revenge across the kingdom. Players can grab the digital version right away on every platform to join the Cursed King on his mission to take back what belongs to him.

The game lets you hunt for sacred arrow pieces that unlock your full strength. Your chains work both as weapons against enemies and tools to move around the world. Hidden rooms contain powerful items and treasures that help during your adventure. You can collect power crystals to make yourself stronger before facing enormous boss fights that test your skills.

Allister Brimble created the music for Beyond the Ice Palace 2. His previous work includes The Plucky Squire, X-COM: Enemy Unknown, RollerCoaster Tycoon, Alien Breed, and Driver 1 and 2. His haunting music makes exploring and fighting even more exciting by perfectly matching what happens on screen.

The team at Storybird Studio worked with publishers PQube and PixelHeart to create something special. They balanced classic platforming action with new ideas that make the game feel fresh. PixelHeart specializes in bringing back forgotten classics with modern touches that respect what made them great originally.

Collectors can still pre-order physical copies for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch before they arrive on March 13, 2025. These physical editions let fans display the game alongside their favorite retro titles. The digital version launches today on PC platforms, with console versions following tomorrow. The throne awaits anyone brave enough to face the challenges ahead.
