BGB guards 2,857 Puja mandaps, ramps up patrols

Border Guard Bangladesh assigned 430 platoons for security operations at 2,857 Durga Puja worship sites nationwide. The force established 24 base camps across frontier regions while expanding intelligence operations and patrol activities. Officials strengthened surveillance measures to maintain order during religious celebrations. Special attention focuses on border zone locations where security risks remain elevated.

Protection covers 1,411 worship locations within eight kilometers of international boundaries, with 15 sites positioned in hill tract regions. Another 1,446 mandaps operate beyond border zones throughout the country. Metropolitan areas account for significant numbers with Dhaka region containing 441 sites and Chattogram districts hosting 694 locations. Regional coordination involves local government officials and police forces to guarantee safe religious observances for Hindu communities.
