Bishop calls on groups to help special needs students

Catholic Bishop Alfred Mateyu Chaima wants more help for disabled students at Mpalankhanga Special Needs Secondary School. The school has 90 students with various disabilities, including hearing and vision problems. Zomba Diocese held a special celebration at the school as part of worldwide Catholic jubilee activities, calling 2025 the Pilgrims of Hope year. Students there need many kinds of support from caring people, organizations, and government offices.

The Bishop asked students to stay positive because God remains with them during school and daily life. He praised the Servant of Blessed Virgin Mary sisters who run the school for their compassion toward students with special needs. School headteacher Sister Agnes Njirayakonda thanked the diocese for organizing prayers and celebration events at their campus. She asked kind-hearted people and organizations to donate food and other necessary items to the school. These donations would help the institution provide quality education for all its students despite their different abilities.
