Bishop Kameeta Urges Unity as Namibia Mourns Founding President

Former Minister Zephania Kameeta addressed attendees at the Saturday morning funeral service for founding president Sam Nujoma with a message about national unity. During his prayer and scripture reading, Kameeta emphasized that Namibians should never permit language or cultural differences to create division among citizens. He stated firmly that such separation contradicted what President Nujoma had fought to achieve throughout his life.

Kameeta mentioned his observations of how mourners representing every segment of society came together, united by shared grief for their founding leader. The collective display of national mourning demonstrated the possibility of unity across different backgrounds. His remarks extended beyond the funeral context to address broader societal challenges facing the nation.

He specifically spoke against major social problems currently affecting Namibia, including gender-based violence, robbery, and corruption. According to Kameeta, these issues undermine the national vision. His comments highlighted concerns about maintaining the values and principles that guided Nujoma's independence struggle.

The religious leader combined spiritual guidance with practical social commentary during his address. His message connected the historical significance of Nujoma's leadership with present-day challenges facing Namibian society. Through his funeral remarks, Kameeta called for Namibians to honor their founding president's legacy by working toward greater national cohesion.
