Black Queens coach excited for England friendly test

Ghana's Black Queens coach Kim Lars Björkegren views the upcoming match against European champions England as an essential preparation opportunity before next year's Women's Africa Cup of Nations. The historic fixture will take place at St. Mary's Stadium in Southampton on December 2, 2025, representing the first senior women's international between these nations.

The Swedish manager told Joy Sports that England ranks among the top four women's teams globally alongside Spain, France, and the United States. Björkegren emphasized that facing such elite opposition provides valuable experience for his squad. He noted that England continues to develop as a force capable of winning the World Cup in Brazil, and their decision to schedule Ghana demonstrates significant respect for the African side.

The coach highlighted that England's willingness to face the Black Queens carries particular importance as the European champions prepare for their own tournament objectives. Björkegren described England as possibly the most challenging opponent in world football at present, making the friendly an ideal test for Ghana's readiness ahead of continental competition.
